If you are running a mine closure, a power station or refinery decommissioning, a hospital or rail program, or any job big enough that you have been asked to find the largest demolition companies in Australia to price it, this is the shortlist. Most demolition contractors in Australia are small, local and residential. The firms that can take on a major commercial, industrial or remote job are a much shorter list.
We are Perfect Contracting, we wrote this, and we are on the list. We have listed ourselves first and described every company from the record. Other companies appear in alphabetical order, each described from its own published material as at October 2026. Confirm licences and insurances with the relevant state regulator and insurer before you engage any contractor here, Perfect Contracting included.
The biggest demolition companies in Australia for major projects
Perfect Contracting
Perfect Contracting was founded in Sydney in 2010, with offices in Marrickville and Slacks Creek in Queensland. It is part of Perfect Group, which also includes Perfect Concrete Care, Perfect Remediation, Perfect Strip Out, Perfect Hire and DeconCut, with more than 150 people across the group. Its work covers structural and high reach demolition, friable and non-friable asbestos removal, industrial decommissioning, contaminated land remediation, early works and civil.
Licences and systems: SafeWork NSW demolition licence AD211896 and Friable Asbestos Removal Licence AD212957, which covers both Class A and Class B work and is accepted by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland for work in Queensland. ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified, all under one integrated management system. Over 100,000 hours on the tools last financial year, with no notices from any state regulator.
It owns its high reach and remote controlled fleet rather than hiring it in: a Volvo EC480 high reach excavator, built up to about 75 tonnes, and Brokk remote controlled demolition robots, run by its own operators. It keeps a pool of around 100 people ready to deploy at short notice to regional and remote sites anywhere in Australia, for emergency make-safe work, hazardous materials removal and difficult demolition that local contractors cannot resource.
Work includes Sydney Metro Southwest station demolition, Cross River Rail at Roma Street in Brisbane, Munmorah Power Station, the heritage industrial site at Corrimal, Bathurst Hospital, Broken Hill and Darwin.

It lists unrestricted demolition, friable asbestos removal and underpinning licences in NSW, the ACT and Queensland, and works across health, education, industrial, infrastructure and commercial projects. What to check before you engage a demolition contractor for a major project
A high reach excavator and remote controlled demolition machines they own
This is the first thing to check on a big job. Tall structures, plant inside operating sites and anything next to live rail or a running hospital are taken down with a high reach excavator from the outside and remote controlled demolition robots, such as Brokks, from the inside. Plenty of demolition contractors in Australia, including some that call themselves commercial, do not own either and hire them in when a job needs one. Hired machines arrive with operators who do not know your site, and only when the hire company has one free. Ask the contractor to list the high reach and remote controlled machines they own, their reach and weight, and who operates them.
People they can put on a remote site
A mine, power station or regional hospital job needs a supervisor, licensed asbestos removalists, operators and labourers on site at the same time, often on a fly in fly out or drive in drive out roster. Ask how many of their own people the contractor can commit, how they will roster and accommodate them, and how fast they can add crew if the program changes.
The right licence in the right state
Each state licenses demolition and asbestos removal differently: SafeWork NSW in New South Wales, the QBCC and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland in Queensland, WorkSafe WA in Western Australia, and the Victorian Building Authority and WorkSafe Victoria in Victoria. Ask for the licence that applies in the state where your job is, check it on the regulator's register, and make sure the licence holder is the company signing your contract.
Class A asbestos, not just Class B
Processing plants, power stations, refineries and older hospitals often contain friable asbestos in lagging, gaskets and insulation. Removing it needs a Class A licence and a Class A supervisor on site. A contractor with both licences can run hazmat removal and demolition as one program.
A certified safety and environmental system
Mining companies, generators, tier 1 builders and government expect ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 audited by an accredited certifier. Request the certificates and their expiry dates, and ask for the number of regulator notices received in the last financial year.
Waste, contamination and recovery
Steel from a plant decommissioning has real value and the contractor's recovery plan affects your cost. Contaminated material, tank residues and process chemicals have to be classified, tracked and taken to a licensed facility. Ask how both will be handled and reported.
