Biggest Demolition Companies on the Gold Coast (2026)

Burwood Decommissioning Project - Parramatta Road

The Gold Coast has a particular demolition problem: ageing high rise. Towers built in the 1970s and 1980s along the beachfront are reaching the end of their life, often with concrete cancer, asbestos in the services and a neighbour a few metres away on each side. Add the hospital, airport and resort redevelopments and you have a market for contractors who can take down big structures in tight places, not just clear a block at Robina.

This is a guide to the companies that do that work. It is for builders, developers, body corporates and government clients who need to shortlist the biggest demolition companies on the Gold Coast for a commercial or high rise job. Perfect Contracting wrote it and is listed on it, first, with the same factual treatment as everyone else. The other contractors appear in alphabetical order, described from their own published material as at October 2026. Check licences and insurances with the issuing bodies before you engage any of them, including us.

The biggest demolition contractors working on the Gold Coast

Perfect Contracting

Perfect Contracting is a Sydney founded contractor, established in 2010, with its Queensland office at Slacks Creek, about 45 minutes up the M1 from the Gold Coast. It is one of six businesses in Perfect Group alongside Perfect Concrete Care, Perfect Remediation, Perfect Strip Out, Perfect Hire and DeconCut. Its scope covers high rise and structural demolition, Class A and Class B asbestos removal, decommissioning, early works and civil.

It holds Queensland demolition licence 2329458 from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland and SafeWork NSW Friable Asbestos Removal Licence AD212957, recognised by WHSQ for licensed asbestos work in Queensland and covering both friable and bonded material. ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 are held under one integrated management system. The group logged more than 100,000 hours on the tools last financial year with no regulator notices.

The company owns a Volvo EC480 high reach excavator, built up to about 75 tonnes, and Brokk remote controlled demolition machines, with its own operators. That matters on a beachfront tower where the top floors have to come down from a machine rather than by hand, and where a Brokk can work inside a basement or plant room that an excavator cannot reach. Queensland work includes demolition and precision cutting at Roma Street Station for Cross River Rail. Crews move between the Brisbane and Sydney offices, so a Gold Coast job can be staffed beyond what the local labour market would allow. See demolition contractors Gold Coast.

Coastal Demolitions and Asbestos Removal

Coastal Demolitions is based at Burleigh Heads and publishes a crew of 53 across four divisions, Class A and Class B asbestos licences, ISO 45001, and a fleet of seven excavators from 1.5 to 39 tonnes with hook bin trucks and prime movers. Its capability statement lists more than 600 commercial demolitions, including apartment demolition on the Gold Coast Highway at Palm Beach and work at Mermaid Beach, Burleigh Heads and Southport. No high reach or remote controlled machine is published. Source: Coastal Demolitions capability statement. Delta Group

Delta Group, established in 1988 and headquartered in Port Melbourne with a Queensland office in Brisbane, reports more than 1,400 personnel and more than 6,000 plant assets nationally, including demolition robots. Its published Gold Coast project is the Gold Coast Airport apron upgrade for Lendlease, covering pavement demolition, piling platforms and PFAS affected spoil. DEMEX

DEMEX is based at Yatala on the northern Gold Coast and has operated since 1993. It publishes a Queensland demolition licence (2321795), a Queensland Class A asbestos licence (2321934), a fleet of high reach excavators and the use of a Brokk 200 demolition robot on industrial work. Gold Coast projects include the Surfers Royale high rise and 43 Garfield Terrace in Surfers Paradise, Niecon Plaza at Broadbeach, Greenmount Beach Resort at Coolangatta and the Palm Beach to Tugun M1 upgrade. Rosenlund

Rosenlund is a Brisbane company based at Banyo with more than 50 years in operation and ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certification. It publishes a high reach fleet with machines from 17 metres up to a 67 metre ultra high reach excavator. Its Gold Coast projects include the Gold Coast Hospital redevelopment at Southport, with large volumes of asbestos contaminated material, and the Surfers International Resort on The Esplanade, taken down by ultra high reach because of concrete cancer. What to check before you engage a demolition contractor on the Gold Coast

A high reach excavator they own, and someone who has used it on a tower

A Gold Coast high rise comes down one of two ways: floor by floor with small machines craned onto the slab, or from the ground with a high reach excavator once the structure is low enough. Both need a contractor who owns the plant and has done it before. Ask for the machine list with reach and weight, who operates it, and a comparable tower they have taken down. Of the companies above, Perfect Contracting, DEMEX and Rosenlund publish owning high reach machines; Perfect Contracting and DEMEX publish owning Brokk remote controlled machines.

Class A asbestos, not just Class B

Beachfront towers of the 1970s and 1980s carry asbestos in fire doors, services risers, lift motor rooms and sprayed insulation. Class B covers bonded sheet only. Friable material needs a Class A licence and a Class A supervisor on site. A contractor holding both runs the hazmat and the structural work as one program.

A Queensland demolition licence and WHSQ notification

Demolition of load bearing structures six metres or more needs a WHSQ licence and five days written notice before work starts. Ask for the licence number and check it belongs to the entity signing your contract.

Neighbours, salt air and the beach

Gold Coast sites have occupied towers on both sides, a public beach behind and a highway in front. Ask how the contractor will control dust and debris at height, protect the neighbouring facades and services, and manage traffic and pedestrians. Ask to see the method statement and the engineer's input before you sign.

A certified system and a clean regulator record

Ask for ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 certificates with expiry dates, and for the number of regulator notices received in the last financial year. Councils and body corporates increasingly ask for this; so should you.

Frequently asked questions

Who are the biggest demolition companies on the Gold Coast?

For commercial and high rise work the names to shortlist are Perfect Contracting, Coastal Demolitions, Delta Group, DEMEX and Rosenlund. Compare them on licence class, the plant they own and comparable towers they have taken down.

How is a Gold Coast high rise demolished?

Usually a mix of top down work with small machines on the upper floors and high reach demolition from the ground once the building is low enough, after all asbestos and hazardous materials have been removed. The right mix depends on the structure, the neighbours and the site access.

Do I need a Class A asbestos contractor for an older Gold Coast tower?

Almost always. Buildings from before 1990 commonly contain friable asbestos in services and fire protection, and friable removal needs a Class A licence in Queensland.

Can one contractor do the asbestos removal, demolition and site clearance?

Yes, if it holds both the demolition and Class A asbestos licences. That removes a handover between two companies and a second set of site rules.
