Mudgee's demolition market is really two markets. In town there is a heritage main street, old commercial premises, wineries and agricultural sheds. Along the Ulan Road there are the Ulan, Moolarben and Wilpinjong coal mines and the plant that comes with them: conveyors, bins, workshops, tank farms and processing structures that need licensed demolition, asbestos removal and steel recovery when they are replaced or when a mine moves towards closure. Kandos and the Lithgow industrial sites are an hour south.
No Mudgee based contractor publishes a commercial demolition track record, and the contractors used for mine site demolition in the district are not identified in any public record we could find. So this guide names the companies that have done large demolition in the surrounding Central West and the licensed operators within reach of Mudgee, and tells you plainly what each one publishes. It is for mine owners, builders, Mid-Western Regional Council and asset owners asked to find the biggest demolition companies serving Mudgee. Perfect Contracting wrote it and is on it, first, to the same factual standard as everyone else. The rest are alphabetical, from their own websites or public listings as at October 2026. Check licences on the SafeWork NSW register before engaging anyone, us included.
The biggest demolition contractors serving Mudgee and the Mid-Western region
Perfect Contracting
Perfect Contracting, founded in Sydney in 2010, is one of six Perfect Group businesses with Perfect Concrete Care, Perfect Remediation, Perfect Strip Out, Perfect Hire and DeconCut. Mine and industrial plant demolition is a specialist line for the company, covering mine demolition, decommissioning and closure and mine closure and rehabilitation works, with asbestos and hazardous materials removed under its own licence and steel recovered and credited against the price. Its nearest active site to Mudgee is the Bathurst Hospital redevelopment, about two hours away; earlier Central West work includes the Manildra flour mill and core sample library decommissioning for the NSW Government.
It holds SafeWork NSW demolition licence AD211896 and Friable Asbestos Removal Licence AD212957, covering Class A and Class B work, and is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 under one integrated management system. The group worked more than 100,000 hours last financial year without a regulator notice.
The company owns a Volvo EC480 high reach excavator, built up to about 75 tonnes, and Brokk remote controlled demolition machines, run by its own operators. On a mine site that means structures next to live plant can be taken down by remote control, and tall steel can come down from the ground without hiring a machine from Sydney. Its crews deploy to regional and remote sites for industrial, emergency and hazardous materials work, and the Bathurst base shortens the trip. See demolition contractors Mudgee.

Boland Contracting
Boland Contracting is a family earthmoving business at Wellington, between Mudgee and Dubbo, operating since 1998. It publishes a fleet of 2 to 22 tonne excavators with GPS, tracked and wheeled loaders, an impact crusher and a screening plant, and offers residential and commercial demolition of structures up to 15 metres. Licence classes, staff numbers and named projects are not published, and no high reach or remote controlled machine is listed. Its service area includes Mudgee, Dubbo, Orange and Parkes. DEMEX
DEMEX has operated since 1993 from Yatala in Queensland and holds NSW unrestricted demolition licence AD213349. It has the largest published Central West record of any contractor: the former Orange Base Hospital, with friable asbestos and asbestos impacted soil, using a 62 tonne high reach excavator; the Lithgow Small Arms Factory for Thales; and demolition packages on the Dubbo Base Hospital redevelopment. It publishes a high reach fleet and has used a Brokk 200 on sugar mill boiler stacks. Source: DEMEX, Lithgow Small Arms Factory.
Hynash Demolition and Asbestos Removal
Hynash Demolition and Asbestos Removal is based in Bathurst, established in 2004, and publishes SafeWork NSW demolition licence AD205037 and asbestos removal licence AD211572 in its directory listing. It appears in Mudgee searches as the nearest locally based licence holder. Licence classes, plant, staff numbers and named projects are not published, and its website was not reachable when this guide was written. Source: Yellow Pages listing. Liberty Industrial
Liberty Industrial is a Sydney based industrial decommissioning specialist with more than 350 employees and a large high reach fleet. Its nearest major project to Mudgee is the Wallerawang Power Station demolition near Lithgow, a two year program with three blast events for the chimney stacks and boilers. MBC Asbestos and Demolition
MBC Asbestos and Demolition operates from Dubbo and Newcastle with more than 35 years in the trade, a Class A friable asbestos licence and a demolition licence. It works on naturally occurring asbestos and plant decontamination across regional and remote NSW. Plant, staff numbers and named projects are not published. Source: MBC Asbestos and Demolition.

What to check before you engage a demolition contractor in Mudgee
Mine site experience and the plant to match
Demolition on an operating mine means working to the site's induction, permit and isolation systems, often within metres of live plant. Ask for a mine or heavy industrial job the contractor has done, and ask what they own in high reach excavators and remote controlled demolition machines. Perfect Contracting, DEMEX and Liberty Industrial publish owning both; the locally based operators publish neither.
Unrestricted or restricted licence
Conveyor gantries, bins and processing towers are usually over 15 metres, which puts them in SafeWork NSW licensed demolition territory, and a restricted licence may not cover them. Ask for the licence number, check it on the public register and confirm the class covers your structures.
Class A asbestos
Older mine workshops, boiler houses, wineries and town buildings carry asbestos, some of it friable. Class B covers bonded sheet only. Perfect Contracting and MBC publish Class A; ask the others.
Steel recovery credited to you
Mine plant is mostly steel, and the scrap is worth real money. Ask how recovered steel will be weighed, sold and credited, and whether the contractor has a steel recycling line of its own or sells through a third party.
Where the crew comes from and how long it stays
Mudgee has no commercial demolition workforce to speak of. Ask how many people the contractor will put on site, where they are based and where they will be housed. A contractor with a Bathurst or Dubbo crew already in the Central West holds a program better than one driving from Sydney each week.
Certification, waste and reporting
Ask for ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 certificates with expiry dates, and for the count of regulator notices in the last financial year. Ask where asbestos and contaminated material will go, since the nearest licensed facility is not in Mudgee.

Frequently asked questions
Who are the biggest demolition companies serving Mudgee?
No large demolition contractor is based in Mudgee. The companies with major Central West work are Perfect Contracting, DEMEX and Liberty Industrial. The licensed operators within reach are Boland Contracting at Wellington, Hynash in Bathurst and MBC in Dubbo. Compare them on licence class, owned plant and mine or industrial experience.
Who demolishes plant on the mines around Mudgee?
Mine owners let that work directly or through their maintenance contractors, and the demolition contractor is rarely named publicly. Ask the contractor you are considering for a mine site reference and for the client contact who can confirm it.
Do I need a licensed demolition contractor in Mudgee?
Yes, for any structure over 15 metres and for several other categories set by SafeWork NSW. Asbestos removal needs its own licence, Class B for bonded material and Class A for friable.
What does it cost to get a demolition crew to Mudgee?
Mobilisation is a line in the quote and a small share of an industrial job. From Bathurst it is a two hour float; from Sydney, a day. Ask for it to be shown separately.
