Excavation shoring installed by the crew that digs the hole
Perfect Contracting installs excavation shoring and trench shoring as part of its civil and early works. Trench shields, hydraulic shoring and piled retaining systems go in to the temporary works engineer's design, by the same crew doing the excavation, so nobody is waiting on a second contractor and nobody is arguing later about who installed what.
- Trench shields and boxes, hydraulic and aluminium shoring, steel sheet and soldier pile walls
- Bulk and detailed excavation, shoring and dewatering priced as one scope
- Supervisors trained on the systems we install, working with the hire suppliers' engineers
- Tight access, live sites and rail and road corridors
- Sydney, Brisbane and regional NSW and Queensland

Shoring fails at installation, not in the catalogue
Most excavation shoring on Australian sites is hired. The system arrives certified and the engineer's design is sound. The problem is the gap between them: a site crew installs it without training on that system, the sequence drifts from the design, and when something moves the hire company points at the installer and the installer points at the drawing.
We close that gap by installing the shoring ourselves. Our supervisors have done hands on training with the systems we hire, working directly with the supplier, so the install matches the design and the excavation sequence matches the install.
What we install
Trench shields and boxes
Steel and aluminium shields for services trenches, pits and pipe runs, sized to the depth and the soil the geotech describes.
Hydraulic and aluminium shoring
Vertical and horizontal hydraulic shores for trenches and small pits where a box will not fit or the excavation changes shape.
Steel sheet and soldier pile walls
Driven or drilled steel piles with timber or steel lagging for deeper cuts and basement perimeters, installed to the engineer's design.
Propping and struts
Walers, struts and raking props where the excavation is too wide to shield, sequenced with the dig so the ground is never left unsupported.
One scope: dig, shore, dewater
On most jobs the excavation, the shoring and the water are three separate subcontracts, and the programme sits in the gaps between them. We price all three together. The excavator opens the cut, the shoring follows it in the same shift, and if the hole makes water our own dewatering crew handles it. One methodology, one SWMS, one contractor responsible.
Where the site is contaminated, the same crew runs the remediation excavation to your consultant's plan, shoring included.
Where this matters most
- Services trenches through live roads, rail corridors and operating facilities
- Basement and lift pit excavations hard against neighbouring buildings
- Deep pits for tanks, pump stations and underground infrastructure
- Early works on constrained CBD and hospital sites where the excavation cannot stop
On these sites the shoring is not a compliance item. It is the thing that lets the excavation run at pace next to something that must not move.
Questions we get asked
Do you design the shoring?
No. Temporary works design stays with a qualified engineer, either yours or the hire supplier's. We install to that design and keep the records that prove it.
Do you supply the shoring or hire it?
Most systems are hired from specialist suppliers and installed by our crews. We take responsibility for the installation and the sequence, which is where the risk sits.
Will you install shoring for another contractor's excavation?
Sometimes, on the larger jobs. The value is highest when we do the excavation as well, because the dig and the shoring are sequenced by one crew.
What areas do you cover?
Sydney and NSW from Marrickville, Brisbane and south east Queensland from Slacks Creek, and regional sites in both states.
