The Sunshine Coast is growing fast, and growth means demolition: old council buildings in Caloundra, treatment plants at Nambour, resorts and shopping centres along the coast built for a smaller town. But the public record of who does that work is thin. Most of the large demolition packages here are let through a head contractor, and the demolition subcontractor is rarely named. Local contractors are mostly set up for house demolition and small commercial jobs.
So this guide does two things. It lists the companies that publish commercial demolition capability on the Sunshine Coast, and it tells you plainly what each one does and does not publish, so you can ask the right questions. Perfect Contracting wrote the guide and is on it, listed first and held to the same factual standard. The rest are alphabetical, described from their own websites as at October 2026. The biggest demolition contractors working on the Sunshine Coast
Perfect Contracting
Perfect Contracting was founded in 2010 and runs its Queensland operation from Slacks Creek, about 90 minutes south of Maroochydore. It belongs to Perfect Group, which also holds Perfect Concrete Care, Perfect Remediation, Perfect Strip Out, Perfect Hire and DeconCut. Its work covers structural and high reach demolition, Class A and Class B asbestos removal, decommissioning, contaminated soil removal, early works and civil.
It holds Queensland demolition licence 2329458 (Workplace Health and Safety Queensland) and SafeWork NSW Friable Asbestos Removal Licence AD212957, which WHSQ recognises for licensed asbestos removal in Queensland and which covers friable and bonded material. ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification sits under a single integrated management system. Last financial year the group worked over 100,000 hours without a notice from any regulator.
Perfect Contracting owns a Volvo EC480 high reach excavator, built up to about 75 tonnes, and Brokk remote controlled demolition machines, run by its own operators. Queensland work includes Roma Street Station for Cross River Rail. For a Sunshine Coast job the company mobilises crews and plant from Brisbane and, when the job is big enough, from Sydney as well, which is how it resources emergency make-safe and hazardous materials work in regional Queensland. 3D Demolition
3D Demolition was established on the Sunshine Coast in 2010 and also services Brisbane and Toowoomba. It describes itself as licensed for demolition and asbestos removal and runs its own fleet of machinery, though it does not itemise the fleet or publish licence classes. Named projects include demolition and site remediation at the Nambour sewage treatment plant, a multi storey warehouse at West Village in Brisbane and Queensland Health dental building demolitions at Brisbane schools. Allcoast Group Demolition Contractors
Allcoast Group is based at Chevallum in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and is a member of the Demolition and Asbestos Industry Association. It describes one of the region's largest operating fleets and lists commercial precincts, multi storey apartments, retail and government buildings as its sectors, but publishes no named projects, licence classes, staff numbers or high reach plant. Coastal Demolitions and Asbestos Removal
Coastal Demolitions is a Gold Coast company based at Burleigh Heads that publishes the Sunshine Coast as a service area and runs a dedicated Sunshine Coast asbestos page. It publishes 53 crew, Class A and Class B asbestos licences, ISO 45001 and seven excavators up to 39 tonnes. Its named projects are on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane; none on the Sunshine Coast are published. Source: Coastal Demolitions. DEMEX
DEMEX is based at Yatala and has operated since 1993. It publishes a Queensland demolition licence (2321795), a Queensland Class A asbestos licence (2321934), a high reach excavator fleet and the use of a Brokk 200 demolition robot. Its nearest published project to the Sunshine Coast is Gympie Hospital, an hour north of Noosa. Source: DEMEX.

What to check before you engage a demolition contractor on the Sunshine Coast
Whether they own a high reach excavator and remote controlled machines
This is the dividing line between a house demolition business and a commercial contractor. Of the five companies above, only Perfect Contracting and DEMEX publish owning high reach excavators and Brokk remote controlled machines. The rest describe a fleet without saying what is in it. Ask for the list, with reach and weight, and ask who operates each machine. A hired machine arrives with the hire company's operator, when the hire company has one spare.
A Queensland demolition licence in the contracting entity's name
Demolition of load bearing structures six metres or more needs a WHSQ licence and five days written notice. Ask for the number and check it against the company you are contracting with, not a related business.
Class A asbestos capability
Older resorts, schools and council buildings on the coast carry asbestos in roofing, eaves, fire doors and services. Class B covers bonded sheet only; friable material needs Class A. Coastal Demolitions, DEMEX and Perfect Contracting publish Class A capability. Ask the others.
Where the crew will come from
No contractor on this list publishes a large permanent workforce on the Sunshine Coast. Ask how many people will be on your site, where they are based and what happens when another job overruns. A contractor that can send crews from Brisbane or interstate holds a program better than one relying on the local labour pool.
Certification and regulator record
Ask for ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001 certificates with expiry dates and for the number of regulator notices in the last financial year. Sunshine Coast Council and state agencies will ask for the same.
Waste, PFAS and contaminated ground
Treatment plants, fire stations and old industrial sites on the coast can carry PFAS and other contamination. Ask how material will be classified and tracked and where it will go. Recycling of clean concrete and steel should be credited back to you.

Frequently asked questions
Who are the biggest demolition companies on the Sunshine Coast?
The companies publishing commercial capability in the region are Perfect Contracting, 3D Demolition, Allcoast Group, Coastal Demolitions and DEMEX. Most large Sunshine Coast demolition packages are let through head contractors who do not name the demolition subcontractor, so ask each company for comparable projects directly.
Is there a Sunshine Coast based contractor with a high reach excavator?
None of the Sunshine Coast based companies above publishes owning one. High reach machines for coast jobs come from Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
Do I need a licensed demolition contractor on the Sunshine Coast?
Yes, for load bearing structures six metres or more and other categories set by the Queensland Work Health and Safety Regulation. Asbestos removal needs its own licence, Class B for bonded material and Class A for friable.
How quickly can a contractor get to the Sunshine Coast for an emergency?
From Brisbane, the same day for a make-safe crew. Larger plant such as a high reach excavator takes longer to float. Ask what the contractor can have on site within 24 hours.
