Following the 2022 floods that devastated the Northern Rivers region, Perfect Contracting established a local presence to support the recovery effort. The Hazmat division was engaged by Paynters to deliver complex asbestos and demolition services at the heritage listed Presbyterian Church in Lismore.
The scope included strip out of flooring and removal of 300mm of asbestos contaminated soil by hand under controlled conditions, strip out and demolition of water damaged walls and timber, and removal of bonded asbestos ceiling tiles and wall sheets. All water damaged walls, floors and ceilings were dried out using blow heaters before handover.
The heritage status of the building required careful coordination to preserve remaining fabric while removing all contaminated and damaged materials.
Remediation of the heritage listed church included:
- Strip out of the floor and removal of 300mm of asbestos contaminated soil
- Strip out and demolition of water damaged walls and timber
- Asbestos removal of bonded asbestos ceiling tiles and wall sheets
- Drying out all water damaged walls, floors and ceilings with blow heaters
This project formed part of a $4.25M program of flood recovery works delivered by Perfect Contracting for Johns Lyng Group and Paynters across the Northern Rivers region.
Perfect’s Northern Rivers crews are very proud of being able to assist these local communities that have been absolutely devastated by the recent floods.
