- Civil engineer, piling and underpinning
- Brisbane, Slacks Creek office
- Full time, growing Queensland team
- AU work rights required
We are hiring a civil engineer in Brisbane. Perfect Contracting runs its Queensland work out of Slacks Creek, and that office is growing: demolition, decommissioning and early works across Brisbane and South East Queensland, with crews mobilising to regional and northern Queensland when the job calls for it. The civil side of that work is growing fastest, and we need an engineer on the ground to deliver it.
The job is delivery. You will run the engineering side of our Brisbane demolition and civil projects with the Queensland site manager and our crews: piling, micro piling and underpinning packages, bulk and detailed excavation, shoring and retention, and the demolition and early works that come before all of it. You price the work with our estimators, write the methodology, run the crews and the subcontractors, hold the client to the programme and close the job out. Brisbane based: we are not asking anyone to relocate or fly in for this one.
Fill in the form below and someone will ring you back within one business day. It takes about two minutes. Attach a CV if you have one handy, or reply to the confirmation email with it.

Why Brisbane needs its own engineer
Perfect Contracting has run demolition, decommissioning and early works in Queensland from the Slacks Creek base for Tier 1 builders, government and industrial clients. What has changed is the civil work. Piling, underpinning, shoring and excavation packages now sit alongside the demolition, and the Brisbane team needs its own engineer rather than borrowing one from Sydney. That is the opportunity: a growing office where the engineer shapes how the civil work gets done, works day to day with the Queensland site manager, has the Managing Director a phone call away, and is not one of thirty engineers in a Tier 1 bullpen.
What the work is
- Piling and micro piling: bored, CFA, screw and driven piles, and micro piles where access or vibration rules out a big rig, working with the piling subcontractor or our own crew. Set out, founding levels, pile logs, obstructions, out of tolerance piles and as-builts, all checked against the structural engineer's design.
- Underpinning: mass concrete, pier and beam and mini pile underpinning of existing footings, sequenced so the building above stays put. We install to the engineer's design and hold points, we do not design it, and you will hold that line with the client.
- Bulk and detailed excavation: levels, batters and benching, dewatering, spoil classification and haulage, and keeping the dig to the geotechnical and structural engineer's requirements.
- Demolition and early works delivery: sequencing structural demolition with the civil works that follow, services isolation and diversion, hazmat removal handovers, and the site set up and permits that a Tier 1 or government client expects.
- Pricing and running the job: take offs and methodology for tenders with the estimating team, then the ITPs, hold point releases, survey and quality records, RFIs, daily records and site diary that keep variations and delays from turning into arguments.
Experience we look for
Tell us what you have actually done. If you are strong on the piling and want to learn the underpinning, or the other way round, still apply.
- A civil engineering degree or equivalent and at least three years on site on piling, foundation, excavation or demolition work, contractor side. Site engineer, project engineer, piling engineer, geotechnical site engineer or foundation engineer, the title matters less than the site time.
- Hands on with piling and foundations: you have watched piles go in, checked the logs, dealt with obstructions and know what the structural engineer will and will not accept. Underpinning or micro piling on a live building is a real plus.
- Comfortable pricing work: you can do a take off, write a methodology and put a number on it that holds, then run the job you priced.
- White Card, a driver licence and the confidence to run a toolbox and a pre-start with a crew. Temporary works or geotechnical exposure, survey skills and Tier 1 site systems all add to your value.
- Already in Brisbane or South East Queensland, fit for a site based role, and happy in a young business that moves fast, where you will be trusted to make calls.
What it pays
Pay depends on experience. Tell us what you are on and we will be straight with you. A vehicle or vehicle allowance and a phone are part of the package. Travel work pays more, and there is interstate work for people who want it. People tend to stay with us once they start: the crew is energetic, dedicated and good to work alongside, and we back them.
Other names for this job
Companies label this role differently and so do candidates. If your last title was site engineer, project engineer, piling engineer, foundation engineer, geotechnical site engineer, civil construction engineer, civil contracting engineer or demolition engineer, and the work involved piling, underpinning, excavation or demolition delivery in Brisbane or South East Queensland, this is the same job. We hire on what you have run, not on the title.
What we are like to work for
We are a young business and we are growing. That is the honest pitch. It means the structure is not set in concrete, there is room to move up if you are any good, and the person who decides is not six layers away from site. We buy decent gear, we back people who bring a better way of doing something, and safety is not a poster in the lunch room. On Tier 1 jobs it is the thing that keeps you working.
Work rights
You need the right to work in Australia. We do not sponsor visas and we do not charge anyone a fee to apply or to be placed, ever. If someone asks you for money to get a job with us, it is not us. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
What happens after you apply
- You get an email straight away confirming we have your application.
- Someone rings you within one business day, on the mobile number you give us.
- If you did not attach a CV, reply to that confirmation email with it. It is the fastest way to get in front of us.
- We keep your details on file. Even if there is nothing today, we come back to people when the right job lands.
Where the job is
This role is based at our Queensland office, 23 Aranda Street, Slacks Creek, and on our sites across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and the wider South East Queensland region. Our Queensland crews also mobilise to regional and northern Queensland, including Mackay, Townsville and Cairns, and there is interstate work later for anyone who wants it, but for this job we want someone who is already in Brisbane and staying here.
