Perfect recently completed the pedestrian bridge demolition at Rosehill Station as part of the Sydney Metro West tunnelling project. Our client Gamuda Australia required this bridge and station demolished to begin works on the dive site for the tunnel. Being heritage listed the tricky part was removing the bridge in one piece so it could be utilised by Parramatta City Council.
Our crews began by rigging the stairs and oxy cutting the bolts and structural steel connected to the bridge. Once all cuts were carried out in sequence our lifting partners Borger Cranes lifted each stair section out and removed them from site.

Once the stairs were carefully removed the next section to be removed was the bridge. The 400-tonne crane was rigged to the bridge so our demolition crew could begin the sequence of cuts to free the bridge from the supporting columns and beams.

After months of planning, hazmat reports and the removal of lead paint from the bridge by Perfect’s Hazmat crews, our demolition team began work on the 18th of January and completed the works on the 21st of January.

Our crane partners Borger Cranes carried out the lift using a 400-tonne mobile crane. Our experienced demolition crew carried out all the oxy cut’s in sequence and all the lifts went very smoothly.
Our client Gamuda Australia commended our demolition crew on their diligent planning and commitment to safety procedures throughout the project.
