What you actually get when you engage us

Most demolition quotes are a number and a start date. Ours comes with a methodology, which is the part that decides whether your program holds. It sets out the sequence, what gets propped and when, how we control dust and noise, where the trucks go, and what happens if we open a wall and find something nobody expected.

That last point matters more in Queensland than people expect. A lot of the commercial stock we work on was built between the sixties and the late eighties, so bonded sheeting, pipe lagging and lead paint turn up regularly. Because we hold the asbestos licences ourselves, finding material does not put your job on hold while a second contractor mobilises from interstate.

Structural and high rise demolition

Taking a building down floor by floor in a live precinct is an engineering exercise. We work top down with the structure propped and the load paths understood, and we do the parts near boundaries and retained structure by hand or with small plant rather than swinging a machine at them.

For high work we bring in high reach excavators, including long reach machines that can process a structure from ground level so nobody needs to be working off the top of it. Where access is too tight or the environment is too hot or unstable for an operator, we use remote controlled Brokk machines.

Industrial and plant decommissioning

Process plant is a different job again. Lines have to be isolated, drained, purged and proved before anyone cuts, and the order you take equipment out in usually decides whether the shutdown window holds.

We work in refineries, food and beverage plants, mines and manufacturing, often inside a fixed shutdown where overrunning is not an option. Recovered steel and equipment gets weighed and credited back, which on a large plant job can take a real slice off the cost.

Asbestos, lead and contaminated material

We hold Class A and Class B removal licences. Class B covers the bonded material you see most often, roof sheeting, cladding, vinyl and eaves. Class A covers friable material such as pipe lagging, sprayed limpet and loose fill, which needs full enclosure, negative air and independent clearance monitoring.

Lead paint comes off steel and concrete either by blasting or, where blasting is not viable because of the environment, by laser. Contaminated soil gets classified, removed under a validation program and disposed of with chain of custody paperwork you can hand to your principal.

Internal demolition and strip out

Plenty of our Queensland work is inside buildings that never close. Hospitals, shopping centres, university buildings and offices where one level comes out while the rest keeps operating.

That means negative air where dust matters, protected access routes, night and weekend shifts, and a program written around the building rather than around us. Smaller jobs are welcome here. A single tenancy or one plant room is work we want, not work we tolerate.

Civil, excavation and early works

Once the structure is gone the site usually needs detailed excavation, service disconnection, shoring and levelling before your builder can start. We can take that whole front end, including principal contractor duties for the stage, so you are dealing with one contract rather than four.

Rock is common in parts of South East Queensland and we price it honestly rather than discovering it later and issuing a variation. Where blasting is not an option we use hydraulic breaking and rock sawing.

Brisbane and the south east is our base. For regional work we mobilise our own crews and plant rather than subcontracting it out, which is why we take staged programs rather than day works up north.

What licence do you hold?

An unrestricted demolition licence, which covers all structure types and heights, plus Class A and Class B asbestos removal licences.

How long does a price take?

Send drawings and a scope and we normally come back within a few days. For urgent or smaller work we can often price straight off a site visit.

Do you do house demolition?

We work on commercial, industrial and government projects. We do take partial demolition and propping work where a building is being kept and rebuilt around, including for builders and developers.

Who is on site running the job?

Our own supervisors and crews. We use labour hire to scale a crew, not to run your job.

What happens to the material?

Steel and concrete are separated and recycled where possible. You get weighbridge dockets and diversion from landfill figures for your reporting.

Are you set up for government and Tier 1 work?

Yes. ISO certified management systems, the insurances those projects require, and prequalification with the major builders.
