Recently, our team came together at our head office for a company-wide Work Health & Safety (WHS) Workshop focused on one clear message:
Stop. Think. Speak Up.
The workshop brought together employees from across Perfect Contracting, Perfect Remediation and Perfect Concrete Care to reflect on lessons learned from incidents throughout the past year, discuss improvements to our safety systems, and reinforce the responsibility every individual has in creating a safer workplace.
Learning From Experience
Continuous improvement begins with honest reflection.
Throughout the workshop, our leadership team reviewed incidents and near misses that occurred across the business over the past twelve months—not to assign blame, but to understand what happened, why it happened, and how we can prevent similar events from occurring again.
Every incident provides an opportunity to improve.
By openly discussing real examples from our projects, our teams gained valuable insights into decision-making, planning, communication and hazard management that can be applied across every future project.
The session reinforced that safety isn’t static—it evolves through experience, learning and continuous improvement.

The theme of this year’s workshop was intentionally simple.
Stop.
Before beginning any task, pause.
Take a moment to assess your surroundings, understand the risks, confirm the work method and ensure the correct controls are in place.
A few seconds spent stopping can prevent incidents that have life-changing consequences.
Think.
Every project presents different challenges.
Whether working in demolition, remediation, asbestos removal, concrete cutting or complex decommissioning, workers are encouraged to think critically about changing site conditions rather than relying solely on routine.
Dynamic risk assessments remain one of the most effective tools in preventing workplace incidents.
Speak Up.
Perhaps the most important message delivered during the workshop was encouraging every team member to speak up.

Creating an environment where every employee feels confident raising concerns is essential to building a genuinely strong safety culture.

While management provides systems, procedures and leadership, workplace safety ultimately depends on every individual making good decisions every day.
The workshop reinforced that safety responsibilities extend across every level of the organisation—from directors and project managers through to supervisors, operators, labourers and subcontractors.
Every decision on site has the potential to affect colleagues, clients and the public.
By working together, following procedures and communicating openly, risks can be identified and managed before incidents occur.
Turning Lessons Into Action
One of the key outcomes of the workshop was identifying practical improvements that will continue strengthening our safety performance.
These include:
- Strengthening pre-start planning and daily risk assessments.
- Improving communication between project teams.
- Reinforcing expectations around hazard reporting.
- Reviewing site-specific safety controls.
- Encouraging greater participation during toolbox talks.
- Sharing lessons learned across projects to improve consistency.
