Asbestos Removal – Knox Grammar School, Wahroonga
Perfect Contracting finished asbestos removal works at Knox Grammar School in Wahroonga for our client Maintlink. The works included asbestos removal works, removal of wall and floor tiles and removal of hazardous lead paint from the roof.
Works commenced on Monday the 12th of December 2016. Firstly our site supervisor met with the client and assessed what the client was looking do have completed for this project. After our Site Supervisor had the scope of work to be carried out from our client our team members established all tools and equipment onto the site and our Site Supervisor had our toolbox talk discussing the absolute importance of wearing full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times throughout the duration of this project.
Once our team members had full PPE including disposable overalls, full face respirators with class P2 filter cartridge’s, safety glasses, gum boots and safety gloves. They then began preparing the site to begin the asbestos removal works. Firstly our team members installed protective heavy duty plastic sheeting on the surrounding floor and walls to ensure the rest of the site was not contaminated during the removal process.
Once all protective sheeting was installed and warning tape and signs installed on site barriers and entrances onto the site our team members began by stripping down the ceiling in two classes rooms, two bathrooms and two dance halls. All material stripped out was carefully packed into UV resistant heavy duty 200um bags with all appropriate warnings to comply with AS1319 – Safety Signs for Occupational Environment standards. Once packed into these bags they were removed site in our tipper truck which was lined with heavy duty 200um thick protective plastic for extra precaution.
All Asbestos contaminated material that was removed from site was disposed of in licensed asbestos disposal facility.
Result: All asbestos removal works were completed without incident and our client was very happy with the quality and professionalism of the works carried out.
