Leura Train Station – Stair Removal
Perfect Contracting have the expertise and resources to handle any size stair removal project. We get it done!
Perfect Contracting have recently finished stair removal works at Leura Train Station for Gartner Rose PTY Ltd. The weekend works involved the stair removal and disposal from the platform.
Works commenced on Saturday the 25th of February. Our team members began by establishing the site and install all safety barriers to ensure the safety of the public during the works, as the platform was still operational.
The bulk of the works commenced from 3am until 3pm that day where the site was cordoned off and deemed safe by the site supervisor. As these works were on the station platform all our team members had RIW (Rail Industry Worker) tickets to allow them to work on the platform.
Perfect Hire offer RIW Ticket Competency Labour so if you need Labour with RIW Tickets don’t hesitate to give us a call on 1300 737 332
We began by removing the steel handrails off the stairs. Then started removing the concrete steps in sections. After a quick assessment of the steps our site supervisor devised that the most efficient removal methodology would be to create penetrations in the concrete with our Hilti Jackhammers, enough to get the chains of the crane through. Once the crane was attached and took the weight of the concrete, we cut the bolts that attached the step sections to the stairs with our Oxy Cutter.
Once all the step sections were removed from the structure of the stairs then our team members cut the bolts on the top and bottom of the stairs that were attaching it to the platform so the crane could lift the stair structure onto the fly over. Once there, our team members began cutting the stair structure into smaller sections so it could be loaded into our 18m3 Skip Bin for removal from site by our Hook Truck.
The Result: All works were completed in time, under budget and our client was happy with the outcome.
