Structural Demolition – Manly Wharf

Perfect Contracting have just finished major structural demolition works for our client Rewards Hotel Projects at Manly Wharf. These works involved the roof removal, penetrations, and shop strip outs. The first stage of these works involved the detailed structural demolition of a corrugated steel roof and removing the trusses supporting it. All corrugated steel sheets were manually dismantled and neatly stacked. Once all materials were dismantled and neatly stacked and strapped we used a 20 Tonne Mobile crane to lift a Crawler Crane onto the roof. This crawler crane was then used to Crane down all the materials into our Hook Trucks for removal. Another stage of the works was to perform concrete penetrations to allow for the installation of a new stairwell and new lifts. These works involved a lot of Oxy cutting to remove steel beams throughout the structure. A separate stage of these works involved the strip out of a fish shop unit on the ground level. This involved a back to base strip out of the shop unit including wall and floor tiles removal and removal of all units and services. Result: Our client Rewards Hotel Projects was very pleased with the quality of works carried out throughout the project.

House Demolition - Woolahra

Perfect Contracting just recently finished a house demolition and strip out works for our clients Out N’ Up. These works involved the demolition and strip out of a residential house in Woolahra. The full scope of works for this project included carpet removal, floor tile removal, ceiling tile removal and bathroom strip outs. For the first day of works our team members established all tools onto site along with our Toolbox, performed a soft strip out including the carpet on the stairs and floor tiles on the lower levels. The second day our team members began the bathroom strip outs which involved the removal of wall and floor tiles, all gyprock off the studded walls and removal of all the bathroom fittings. Once our team members had finished the bathroom strip outs then they started working on the demolition of some of the internal walls. Due to some of these walls being load bearing, we firstly installed our Acrow props to ensure the integrity of the building remains intact. All waste and rubbish that was removed from this site was recycled helping us to reach our goal of recycling over 50% of waste and rubble we remove from sites before the end of year. As we are now a GreenStar accredited demolition contractor we have a very strong focus on recycling and the impact we have on the environment. Once all demolition works were completed we performed an extensive site clean up to ensure we left the site as clean as possible. Result: Our client Out N’ Up was delighted the quality of the works carried out by our team members and the professional condition the site was left in.

Demolition – North Sydney Train Station

Demolition – North Sydney Train Station

Demolition – North Sydney Train Station

Perfect Contracting were engaged by our client Obson Projects to complete demolition works at North Sydney Train Station. These works involved the tile removal and demolition of part of the North Sydney Train Station. The full scope of works for this project was to strip the tiles from a section of the concourse. On some parts of this project we were able to use our small 1tonne Yanmar Excavator with hammer attachment, this made the tile stripping a lot faster and meant we could focus on loading out the rubble as quick as possible. For other part of this project the access was limited so we could not get our excavator into the area so all tiles were removed with our Hilti TE800 Jackhammers and wide chisels. One stage of the works carried out was to strip the tiles from the stairs and landing within the concourse. As the area was still a live public area most of these works were completed after hours. Site barriers were setup to protect the public while carrying out the demolition works. All waste and rubble was loaded out in our Isuzu Tipper trucks and 100% of waste and material removed from the site was recycled. Result: Our client Obson Projects were very pleased with the quality of the works carried out.

Roof Removal – Caringbah Sports Club

Roof Removal – Caringbah Sports Club

Perfect Contracting just completed roof removal works for our client New England Constructions at the Caringbah Sports Club. These works were part of the overall detailed and structural demolition works we are carrying out for our client at the Caringbah Sports Club. The full scope of works for this project involved the removal of existing steel trusses from the roof of the sports club. Our EWP ticketed team members started by manually removal all light material from the roof using scissor lifts. Once all light material was removed then the next stage was to remove the steel trusses from the structure. To remove these steel trusses safely and efficiently we decided the best mythology would be to use a 55 tonne mobile crane, as these trusses were very heavy. This crane allowed us to securely remove the trusses and lower them to ground level. From here we cut the trusses into smaller pieces using our Oxy Kit and craned them down straight into our Hook Trucks. All these works were carried out during normal business hours and there was traffic control supplied by the client and permissions of the council for the crane to operate off the road. Being committed to reaching our goal of recycling over 50% of waste and rubble removed from sites we managed to recycle almost every part of roof structure. Our team members carefully separated all steel and wood from the structure and these were all recycled. Almost every part of this roof structure was successfully recycled. Result: Our client New England Constructions was very happy with the works carried out for the roof removal.

Half House Demolition – Balmain

Perfect Contracting recently finished half house demolition works for our client Bespoke Constructions at Balmain. These works involved a detailed half house demolition of a residential house in Balmain. The scope of works for this project included bathroom stripouts, jackhammering and removal of wall render and demolition of brick walls. Our team members started with the bathroom stripout by removing all services and facilities in the bathroom, stripping the ceiling and render from the walls. Using our Hilti TE60 Jackhammers to strip the tiles and remove the render. Then our team members began works on demolition of the ceiling tiles and stripping the floorboards. All wood was separated from other waste and rubble as we are committed to reaching our goal of recycling over 50% of the waste by the end of 2017. Once all floorboards were stripped and removed our team members began the demolition of the external brick wall. This wall was boarding the house next door so extra care had to be taken to ensure the boundary fencing was not damaged. Concrete Penetrations – Hurstville Substation

Perfect Contracting were engaged by our client DEGNAN to complete concrete penetrations at the Hurstville Substation. These works involved multiple wall and floor penetrations. The scope of works for this project included a partial stripout of the bathrooms, which involved the removal of all fittings. The second part of work involved in this project was one wall penetration and two floor penetrations. For the wall penetration we required a scissor lift to allow our team members safe access to perform the works. Our team members both had their EWP Tickets so were safe to operate the scissor lift throughout the duration of the works. To carry out the works our team members firstly consulted with our client DEGAN to locate where the penetrations were to be made. Once this was established then it was marked out and our team members began cutting the wall with our Husqvarna K970 Ring Saw. Once all cut lines were made then they began to jack hammer out the section of slab. Once our team members were finished with the wall penetration then they began works on the two floor penetrations. Once the area was marked out they began cutting the slab with our Husqvarna Ring Saw and Jackhammered out the section of slab. There was multiple wall and floor penetrations performed throughout the duration of the works. Our team members also performed multiple Concrete Core holes for our client as requested. All waste and rubble was removed from site by our team members using our Isuzu Tipper Trucks. Result: Our client supervised the duration of the works and was very happy with the professional outcome of the works.

Brokk Demolition Robot – Wilmot St, Syndey

Brokk Demolition Robot – Wilmot St, Syndey

Brokk Demolition Robot at Wilmot Street

Perfect Contracting completed works for our client Built. at the Wilmot Street. Part of the works we are carrying out for client requires the use of the Brokk 90 Demolition robot with crusher attachment. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMX6ItgQYSc[/embed] This project requires penetrations on three levels on the building. As part of stage one of the works our team members started off the night by installing safety barriers on both the 15th and 16th floors. This was to ensure the safety of everyone on site throughout the duration of the works. They then installed our Zip-walls to ensure dust and debris could be controlled during the demolition works. Due to noise restrictions all work with the Brokk was carried out after hours. One of the challenges of this project was to get the Brokk up the elevator to the 15th floor. Firstly 3 phase power had to be established at the loading dock to power the Brokk to reach the elevator. Then once up on the 15th floor 3 phase power was ran to the elevator to remove the Brokk. Before the Brokk 90 could start using the crusher to eat away at the slab there had to be penetrations performed, our team members from our concrete care division Perfect Concrete Care used Hilti Cordless Hammer drill to drill into the slab and install 2mm dyna bolts and anchor points, they then setup our block and tackle. Once these were in place and secure they proceeded to cut out a small section of the slab with our Husqvarna Ring Saw, this was then lowered down to the 15th floor. This penetration allowed the Brokk 90 to move in and begin crushing the slab from underneath. The floor on the 15th was covered with wooden hoardings to ensure the concrete falling would not damage the floor surface. All waste and rubble was loaded into our Tub bins so it could be easily loaded out into our 10m3 Skip Bins at the loading dock. Result: Our client Built is delighted with the quality of works carried out so far.

Demolition – Marriott Hotel, Circular Quay

Demolition – Marriott Hotel, Circular Quay

Demolition at the Marriott Hotel in Circular Quay

Perfect Contracting completed demolition works for our client Taylor Constructions at the Marriott Hotel in Circular Quay. These works included detailed demolition of the heritage bar, demolition of stairs with the Brokk 90 demolition robot. First stage of the works involved the detailed demolition of the heritage bar and the demolition of the stairs with the Brokk 90 demolition robot. The Brokk demolition robot was assessed as the safest methodology for the demolition of the stairs. The operator can work from a safe distance and could very accurately demo the stairs with the crusher attachment. One of the last parts of this project was the removal of some concrete slabs off the driveway. Our team members assessed that the Yanmar 1.7 tonne with the hammer attachment as this would this would be more efficient at hammering out the concrete slab. Firstly though our team members used our Husqvarna demo saws to cut the concrete slab this would ensure a smooth clean finish at the edges and would make it easier to hammer out. Once all the area was hammered our skilled excavator operator changed out the hammer for the bucket and began to load all waste and rubble into our Isuzu MR 5 tonne tipper truck. Temporary site fencing was erected throughout the duration of the works to ensure the safety of the public, as the hotel was still a live public site. Result: Our client Taylor Constructions was delighted with the quality of works carried out.

Structural Demolition – Marrickville Metro

Structural Demolition of Marrickville Metro, Marrickville

Perfect Contracting are currently performing structural demolition works for our client Rork Projects at the Marrickville Metro Shopping Centre, Sydney. The works involved the structural demolition of escalators. Our team members first established temporary site fencing to ensure the safety of the public during the duration of the works. They then established a safe loading dock to allow our tipper trucks access to load out the waste and rubble. Once our access and site fencing was up our team members began unloading all the equipment needed for the works. Our team members constructed our snappy scaffold and began the soft strip-out of the ceiling tiles ensuring the no services were touched. Our client requested that all camera and sprinkler systems were left intact, as they would be used in the new installation. The ceiling stripping and small detail works is stage one of the structural demolitions we are carrying out on this site. The second stage will include the removal of the roof to crane out the escalators and prepare the site for the installation of the new escalators. This will involve the removal of steel structural beams, which will need to be secured with a crane before we cut them with the oxy. All the waste and rubble was loaded into our Isuzu Tipper trucks for removal from site.
